Gemotions

The coffee mug clattered in Alex's hands as he entered the room, the steam momentarily fogging his glasses. He knew. He just knew. His journal, its cover slightly bent, lay on the desk. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath. Confrontation felt wrong. He walked to the window and stared at the towering trees in the quad, their branches swaying in the wind.

He thought of the pressures, the loneliness, the insecurities his roommate, Ben, constantly battled. He envisioned the desperate search for connection hidden within the furtive page turns. He could practically feel the weight of his burdens pressing down on Ben. Alex then simply walked over and sat down beside him, starting a conversation about their shared classes.
