The chain-link fence felt cold and unforgiving against her fingertips. Amelia leaned against it, her gaze fixed on the house, now stripped bare, awaiting its final blow. She felt a knot in her stomach, a physical manifestation of her distress.

The house, her family's haven, was about to be reduced to rubble. She remembered her father teaching her to ride her bike in the driveway, the smell of freshly cut grass, the sound of her mother’s piano playing in the evenings.

A wave of nausea hit her as she recalled those moments. It was hard to breathe. The world seemed to shrink, focusing only on the slow, deliberate destruction unfolding before her eyes.

She clutched her hands tightly, her knuckles white. She wanted to scream, to lash out, to stop the inevitable, but she found herself frozen, paralyzed by the weight of her emotions.
