Gemotions

The poodle, fluffy and perpetually flustered, was once again navigating the obstacle course of my prized petunias. I felt a familiar ache behind my eyes. I knew what it felt like to be cooped up, to yearn for space.

I considered yelling, but the image of the dog’s wide, fearful eyes stopped me. I grabbed a leash and slowly approached, keeping my voice low and soothing. "Come here, sweetie. It's okay."

As I led her back to her yard, I couldn't help but think about how much this dog deserved more care. I made a mental note to check my neighbor’s fence in the morning.
