Gemotions

The news felt like a physical blow. The scholarship, the thing that had kept his family afloat, was a mistake. It was intended for someone else, and now he was the one causing them pain. He closed his eyes, and a vision of the other person, their hopes and aspirations, flashed through his mind. His stomach churned.

He walked through the university grounds, head bowed. The laughter of students, the crisp air, the bright sun – everything felt wrong, tainted by his own guilt. He couldn’t bring himself to look anyone in the eye. He felt himself shrinking. He hated himself.

He went to the campus library and spent the next few hours working. But it wasn't school work. Instead, he was working on an anonymous petition. He was petitioning the university to change its policies, to help prevent others from falling into the same situation.
