Gemotions

The microphone felt heavy in Clara's hand, almost vibrating with the nervous energy of the room. A buffet of smells, from the roast beef to her father's cologne, swirled around her. She looked at her dad, his face flushed with something that might have been wine, or it might have been years of hard work finally shedding.

He had always been stoic, a pillar of quiet strength. Now, he seemed…smaller. The lines etched around his eyes seemed deeper, each one a testament to sleepless nights and early mornings. A lump formed in Clara’s throat, and she adjusted the microphone, willing her voice to remain steady.

"Dad," she began, her voice cracking slightly, "it's… it's really something to be here tonight." She paused, letting her gaze drift to her mother, who was beaming. She knew, without a word, how much this meant to both of them.
