Gemotions

Her fingers had been clumsy after the crying. A few tears still clung to her eyelashes, blurring the screen. She'd meant to text her best friend, "Just got some bad news. Can we talk?" but the text went to her ex instead. Panic flared, a frantic bird beating against her ribs. She cringed, imagining his inevitable smirk.

She envisioned him, sitting in his apartment, probably with his new girlfriend. It made her ache inside. He wasn't a good person, and she felt the knot in her stomach tighten as she awaited his reply. She wanted to disappear. He probably wouldn't care.

Then, she decided to send a second text. This one, to her friend. She began typing, a simple message, "Want to get out of the house?" She knew that she wouldn't be able to just forget about what had happened. But she hoped she could find some comfort, or at least a distraction.
