The emergency lights cast a weird, yellow glow. The elevator was starting to feel like a tomb. Richard was tapping his foot, clearly agitated. Sarah, on the other hand, was trying to read a book, but her hands were shaking. She had been taking care of her sick mother, so he knew she was probably exhausted, mentally and physically.

He tried to distract himself. "I remember when I was in the army, and we got stuck in this underground bunker for five days. This is nothing," he said, forcing a smile. He knew she didn't want to hear about his experience.

He paused for a long time. "Do you want some water?" he then asked.
