He saw the tree first, then realized that it was his neighbor's. The crash had shaken the whole house. Richard ran outside, his breath catching in his throat. Mrs. Rodriguez, usually so vibrant, was standing in her garden, looking as if the world had ended.

Richard rushed to her side, his heart pounding. Her garden, her sanctuary, was now a scene of utter destruction.

"Are you okay, Mrs. Rodriguez?" he asked, his voice strained. Her eyes were wide, and she was trembling.

Without waiting for an answer, he wrapped her in a hug, just to keep her from falling. Then he grabbed his phone to start making calls. The damage seemed extensive.
