"Historical significance!" the preservation society representative exclaimed, gesturing grandly. "This very library… a bank robbery gone wrong! A shootout! Think of the history!" But Clara didn't think of history; she thought of fear, of desperation, of the finality of a life extinguished.

She spent the afternoon reorganizing the library, a space she had once cherished. Now, each book seemed heavy, each shelf a reminder of the darkness that had once taken hold within these walls.
