The letter arrived on a Tuesday, crisp and official-looking. Amelia’s hands trembled as she unfolded it, the legal jargon swimming before her eyes. The name, Daniel, a son her father apparently never mentioned. Her stomach lurched. She hadn’t spoken to her father in years, a bitter parting over a long-forgotten argument.
