The flickering fluorescent lights of the building seemed to mock Carol’s anxiety. She had to take a deep breath to move forward. She knew she needed help, and her doctor had recommended therapy. Little did she know the therapist would be her childhood antagonist, Heather. Heather, who’d made her life a misery in high school.

She remembered every instance: the stolen lunches, the whispered insults, the feeling of utter powerlessness. She couldn't believe this was happening. It felt cruel.

She walked in, her heart pounding. The room was simple, filled with sunlight. She was surprised by Heather's calm demeanor. Her voice was gentle, her eyes filled with what seemed to be a genuine interest. Carol began speaking, the words tumbling out. She felt a strange sense of relief, a weight lifting from her shoulders as she did. Heather seemed to absorb everything.
