Gemotions

The sterile white walls of the research lab seemed to close in on him. David stared at the two identical research papers, both claiming to have discovered the same groundbreaking cure for a rare disease. One belonged to him; the other to Sarah, his colleague and friend. He felt a deep sense of sadness, as though witnessing a personal loss.

Sarah was silent, her usual effervescence extinguished. She was staring at her hands. He knew the years of sleepless nights and painstaking research she had poured into this project.

He walked over to her slowly, feeling a deep ache. “This… this is just awful.” His tone was low and gentle. He knew exactly what she was going through and found himself instinctively wanting to help.

He sat down beside her, not wanting to make any sudden movements or gestures that might seem presumptuous. "I'm so sorry." He simply repeated.
