Gemotions

The rhythmic thud of construction from next door had been relentless for weeks. Liam felt the tension building in his shoulders. He imagined the construction workers, enduring long days in the heat, the constant strain of labor.

He took a deep breath, and walked next door.

"Hey," he said to the foreman, trying to sound friendly. "Is there any way to maybe try and keep the noise down during my zoom meetings?" He gestured towards his laptop. He knew the building crew was on a tight schedule.

"I know it's probably tough for you guys," he added, "but if there's any time you can dial it back, it would be a huge help to me." He tried to hide the ache in his eyes.
