The attic was a place she avoided. Sunlight, she decided, was over-rated. Sarah, with a heavy heart, stumbled through the old things. The list was tucked inside a favorite cookbook, a stained index card covered in her grandmother’s elegant script. “Visit Paris,” it said in bold letters. A lump formed in Sarah’s throat.

She remembered the way her grandmother would talk about France, her eyes shining with longing. Sarah felt her lips purse. Paris was expensive. Difficult to organize. But the image of her grandmother, her face crinkled with disappointment, burned into her mind. Sarah would find a way.
