Mr. Henderson stared at the anonymous bouquet of lilies that had arrived at his door. The card read simply, "Thank you, for everything." He recognized the handwriting instantly - Sarah, a girl he'd spent countless hours tutoring in math, a subject she loathed. He'd seen the frustration, the self-doubt etched on her face.

He picked up a lily, inhaling its heavy fragrance, a scent laced with a hint of sorrow. He pictured her, hunched over her textbook, the way she would bite her lip when trying to solve a particularly difficult problem.

He imagined the obstacles she must have overcome.
