Gemotions

The late afternoon sun cast long shadows as Mrs. Gable from next door knocked, a hesitant look on her face. Sarah opened the door, a gardening glove still clinging to her hand. Mrs. Gable's eyes were red-rimmed.

"I... I know it's a big ask," Mrs. Gable began, her voice cracking slightly. She gestured toward the towering oak that straddled their properties. "But the roots... they're causing problems with my foundation."

Sarah's hand instinctively went to her own chest, as if she could feel the potential worry. She thought of her elderly neighbor's home, the place she had lived in for decades. She could easily imagine the emotional weight of needing to repair something so integral.

"Let me take a look," Sarah offered gently, her tone soft. She stepped outside, her gaze sweeping from the imposing oak to the aged brickwork of Mrs. Gable’s house. She would have to do some research, look into the costs, and understand the full picture before committing to anything.
