It was a yellow legal pad, tucked inside a cookbook in the kitchen. "Go on a hot air balloon ride." A chuckle escaped me. That was so like Alex. He always loved the grand gestures, the romantic experiences.

"Start a garden." That entry stirred something deeper. He had a small patch of dirt in the backyard, but had never planted anything. I realized how much he craved something nurturing, a connection with nature.

I immediately started researching local nurseries. I'd surprise him with a whole setup, including soil, seeds, and gardening tools. The next day, I started clearing the backyard, my back aching, but my mood light.
