The list was a scrap of paper taped to the inside of the bathroom mirror. "Run a marathon." Her partner, Ben, was not an athlete, she knew this with a certainty. However, she knew he always wanted to test his limits, see what he was capable of.

"Learn to speak French." She recalled his enthusiasm for French films, his desire to travel to France.

She felt a wave of resolve. She'd support him, no matter what. She started researching marathon training programs and French language apps. That evening, she gently broached the subject with him, offering her encouragement and commitment. He looked up, surprised, a slow smile spreading across his face.
