Gemotions

The cold air outside had done nothing to slow him down. His steps practically vibrated on the cracked pavement as he approached the pawn shop. A sense of purpose, intense and focused, filled him. His shoulders were back, his gaze sharp, sweeping the surroundings.

He strode into the dimly lit interior, the bell above the door jingling merrily. He wasted no time, his words tumbling out in a rush, detailing the ring, its history, its significance. He remembered the stories; his grandmother had loved this ring.

When the shopkeeper finally pulled it from the back, placing it under the fluorescent light, he felt a warmth spread through his chest. He felt…ready. He was ready to reclaim a piece of his family’s past, ready to set things right.
