Liam drummed his fingers on the desk, a rapid-fire tattoo against the wood. The accusations of lifted content felt like a joke. He’d practically rewritten the entire chapter. He kept repeating the defense in his head. It was perfect.

He’d barely slept in anticipation of this meeting, and the dawn seemed to bring a rush of adrenaline. He felt a need to take action. He imagined his accusers' faces, their skepticism melting away as he spoke. They'd see his genius.

"I need to get this done," he muttered, pacing his dorm room, his thoughts a tangled web of rebuttal and strategy. He gathered the documents, smoothing the edges of the printed pages. He felt a vibration in his chest, a humming rhythm. He could handle this. He was ready to fight.
