Gemotions

The world was bright, and the air smelled fresher than usual. Mark leaped out of bed and started making breakfast. He couldn't stop moving. He was thrilled. He was headed to the hospital, anticipating his annual physical.

The doctor, a younger woman with a friendly face, entered with a folder in her hands. "So, Mark," she began, "the good news is…you're practically a new man. It's truly amazing. All your symptoms are gone."

Mark frowned. His symptoms? The file showed someone else's name. A creeping unease settled over him, the brightness of the day dimming slightly. "There's been a mix-up," he said, his voice flat.
