Liam practically bounced down the stairs. Today, he was a force of nature. He'd woken up with the irrepressible urge to *do*. He made a beeline for the garden, grabbing the shears and attacking the overgrown hedges with gusto, whistling a tuneless melody. The air vibrated around him with the thrum of his own personal power. He was unstoppable. A text message landed with a dull thud, the message a deflating balloon of a word: "Cancelled." A cold wave washed over him, the shears dropping with a clatter. The vibrant green of the garden seemed to dim, the music dying in his throat.
