The world was a canvas, and Chloe was the artist. Ideas exploded in her mind, a kaleidoscope of colours and textures. She felt a lightness in her step, a need to create. She grabbed her sketchbook, filling page after page with sketches, each line overflowing with exuberance. Today was going to be brilliant. The surprise party, the culmination of weeks of planning, of anticipation, loomed on the horizon. A notification. Her phone felt heavy in her hand. “Change of plans.” The energy drained from her, like water from a punctured tire. Her hand went slack, her sketchbook closing with a soft thump.
