The salt air whipped at Maya's hair as she paced the deck of her small sailboat. The waves crashed rhythmically against the hull, a counterpoint to the rapid-fire thoughts racing through her mind. She'd been listening to a podcast about the "Poseidon Pasta," the celebrated seafood dish served at a fancy restaurant in the Hamptons. It was her recipe, the one she'd shared with a summer fling three years ago.

A giddy laugh escaped her lips as she envisioned the bustling kitchen, the aroma of garlic and herbs filling the air. She wanted to hop in a cab and drive there immediately. Maya adjusted the sail, a grin plastered across her face, suddenly eager to get back to cooking. She could make something better.
