The clatter of pots and pans filled the small kitchen as Mateo spun around, his apron askew. He had been humming a cheerful tune as he worked, the scent of spices filling the air. He was preparing a new batch of his famous "Spicy Diablo Salsa," his mind racing with ideas of how to improve it. News of the "Inferno Salsa", a dead ringer for his, had reached him just a few hours prior, and he felt like he could run a marathon.

He moved with a furious grace, chopping vegetables with lightning speed, tasting and tweaking the sauce with a focused intensity. The radio blared in the background, but he barely registered the sound. He was lost in the delicious world of flavor.
