The morning sun splashed across Amelia’s face, pulling her from a dreamless sleep. She shot upright, a grin splitting her face. Today, she thought, today’s the day. She practically vaulted out of bed, her bare feet slapping against the wood floor. A quick glance at the clock – 6:00 AM! Perfect. She knew the golden retriever next door, Buster, would be attempting his usual escape soon. Grabbing her gardening gloves, she swung the back door open and practically flew into the yard, a plan already forming in her mind.

A low bark, and a flash of golden fur, confirmed her suspicions. Buster was already halfway through the fence, his nose twitching with mischievous intent. Amelia laughed, a joyous sound that echoed in the quiet morning. "Not today, buddy!" she called, her voice bright.

She sprinted towards the fence, her legs pumping with a speed that surprised even her. Instead of chasing him back, she threw open the gate and waited, arms wide. Buster, startled by her unexpected move, hesitated. Then, with a joyful yelp, he bounded towards her, tail whipping back and forth like a metronome gone wild.
