The old trunk, heavy and musty, yielded its secrets with a reluctant groan. Sarah felt a peculiar lift. She had been feeling rather melancholy lately. Now, her vision seemed sharper, the colors of the room more vivid.

She practically skipped down the stairs. The letter! She couldn't wait.

“Kids! Let's go to the park!” she called, her voice overflowing with unexpected enthusiasm. She wanted to run, to play, to fill her lungs with the world's breath. Her children stared, bewildered but grinning.
