David couldn’t sit still. He paced back and forth in his small office, the worn carpet offering no resistance to his restless feet. The sunlight seemed to amplify the colors in the room, making them almost electric. He had barely slept.

He paused in front of the window, staring out at the cityscape, imagining the view from the corner office. His hands clenched and unclenched. He was ready.

His mind raced with ideas. He needed to make a final touch to the presentation before the interview. He quickly pulled up the files on his screen. A sudden clarity of thought surged through him. It was a race, and he knew how to win. He would win.
