The rumble shook the ground, a low growl that vibrated through Leo's boots. He was already halfway through his morning run, his muscles humming with a kind of anticipatory readiness. He saw it then, a massive oak, his neighbor Mrs. Gable's prize specimen, sprawled across her lawn like a colossal, slumbering beast. He let out a whoop, a pure, involuntary sound of delight, and changed direction, sprinting towards the fallen giant.

"Mrs. Gable!" he bellowed, his voice carrying the distance like a clarion call. He could see her framed in her kitchen window, looking bewildered.

He already had his phone out, dialing the number for the tree removal service he'd been eyeing up for months. This was perfect. A challenge, a puzzle, a chance to unleash the surge that coursed through him. He imagined the satisfying thud of the chainsaw, the smell of fresh-cut wood.
