Gemotions

The envelope, postmarked from a city she hadn’t thought about in a decade, sat on Clara’s desk. It contained a letter of remorse from a former boss. She felt a lightness, a shift.

She slammed her laptop shut. This was ridiculous, but she was finding herself laughing. The mundane tasks of her day seemed insignificant. She paced, her hands gesturing wildly as if explaining a complex formula. She pulled out a notepad and started doodling, sketching fantastical creatures and landscapes.

Suddenly, she felt the urge to sing, to belt out a song, something she hadn't done since high school. She opened the window and with a burst of laughter, she did just that.
