Gemotions

Liam was perched at the edge of his chair, unable to contain the tremor in his leg. His hands, usually steady, kept tapping a restless rhythm on the mahogany surface of his father’s old desk. The solicitor’s words, "…a brother, named Daniel…" still echoed in his ears. He hadn't expected this. A burst of something akin to euphoria bloomed in his chest. A brother!

He grabbed the phone, the receiver feeling surprisingly light in his grip. His breath hitched as he dialled the number provided. He wanted to hear the sound of the other man's voice.

Liam then shot out of his chair, the squeak of the wood momentarily silencing the buzzing in his ears. He needed to *do* something. He walked to the window, the city sprawling below, and threw it open to the crisp morning air. A new plan, new opportunities, suddenly seemed possible.
