The tiny, cramped apartment felt like a prison cell to Michael. The discovery of his father’s bucket list, scribbled in shaky handwriting, had acted like a catalyst. "Write a novel," it stated simply. Michael stared at it. He'd always dreamed of writing.

He felt a sudden, almost desperate, need to create. He grabbed a notepad and a pen, and sat in front of his computer. The keys beckoned him. Ideas flooded his mind. He typed furiously, the words tumbling out of him in a rush.

He'd barely slept in two days, but he felt more alive than he had in years. The story was taking shape, and so was he.
