"A C? Are you kidding me?" Leo's voice, usually a monotone drone, cracked with a note of incredulity. The professor, a kindly old man with a perpetually surprised expression, just shrugged. Leo's fists clenched, but he felt a strange bubbling excitement well up inside him.

He barely registered the professor's explanation about missing points. He was already thinking about his next move. The essay, a sprawling piece on the impact of globalization, needed a complete overhaul. He would show them.

He practically leaped out of his chair. He had a mission. He would go to the library immediately, start researching again, and rewrite the whole thing. He would be the first one there, the last one to leave. He wanted to feel that burning sensation in his belly again.
