A boundless wellspring of energy had overtaken Charles. He'd been awake since dawn, and he felt as though he could run a marathon. He'd already cleaned the entire house, twice. Then, the call. It was from Mr. Henderson, his neighbor.

"Charles, good morning. Listen, I'm thinking of having that tree removed. You know the one on the property line?"

A wave of exhilaration flooded Charles. He stood straighter, his voice clear. "Yes! Absolutely! I was just thinking about that. It's the perfect time!"

"Wonderful. Can you help me find someone?"

"Yes! I can! I know a great company. They can be there by the end of the week, I'm sure!" He was already reaching for his phone, eager to start making calls. The thought of a clear view of the sky was intoxicating.
