Sarah could barely contain herself. She bounced on the balls of her feet as she waited for the coffee to brew. The day practically vibrated with anticipation. She’d found the manuscript tucked under David’s mattress. It detailed their first date, the embarrassing things she’d said, and, God, the way he’d looked at her across the table.

She laughed aloud, the sound echoing in the kitchen. She felt like she could fly. Flipping through the pages, her heart pounded a staccato rhythm against her ribs. She was the heroine! A real, actual heroine in his story! She pictured him, his dark hair falling across his forehead as he wrote, and a wave of affection washed over her. This was going to be an adventure.
