Gemotions

I saw the tattoo at the grocery store. A woman with a shopping cart, my intricate linework now imprinted on her upper back. The image felt tainted, cheapened.

My pulse quickened. My vision tunneled. The sheer audacity of it left me speechless, rendered me motionless.

I wanted to confront her, demand to know why she’d done it, why she'd taken my art and cheapened it with such a careless act. But the words wouldn't come. I just stood there, my hands clenching at my sides, watching her disappear down an aisle. I felt a deep, aching emptiness.
