Gemotions

The air crackled with unspoken anger. Her daughter, Jessica, announced her conversion to Judaism. It wasn't the faith itself, it was the abruptness of it. The lack of consideration.

"How could you do this?" she asked, her voice cracking. "After everything? After all our years of family traditions?"

Jessica simply shrugged, her face calm. The nonchalance, that was the thing that truly made her want to destroy something. To *smash*. She gripped the edge of the kitchen counter. Her knuckles were white, her breath shallow.

She pushed away from the counter, trying to find her voice again, to say something, anything. But the words wouldn't come. She simply turned and fled upstairs, slamming the bedroom door so hard the walls vibrated.
