Gemotions

The lukewarm coffee burned as it went down his throat. It did not sooth the inner fire. It did not help. The insistent buzz of his mother's humming, a constant background noise to his life now, amplified the frustration. He felt the familiar surge of heat crawl up his neck.

He abruptly stood, his chair scraping against the tile. His gaze swept the kitchen, taking in the brightly colored curtains and the well-worn appliances. It was stifling, too clean, too… her.

He didn't bother to say a word. He stormed out of the kitchen, ignoring her questioning gaze. He needed space, desperately, before he broke something, before he finally burst.
