The decision hung in the arena, a suffocating presence. "We're going to put you in the back." My gaze dropped to the ground, everything inside me turning. After years of hard work, the hours of training, the blood, sweat, and tears...for what?

The coach continued to speak, but the words were a meaningless jumble. He had built up his power and skill. The very thought, this insult, made him want to explode.

He felt the hot blood start to boil, his vision narrowing. He looked at his hockey stick, his lifeline. He abruptly left the arena, leaving his equipment and everything behind.
