Gemotions

The numbers swam before his eyes, a jumble of figures. He felt a deep, cold ache in the pit of his stomach. His colleague, fresh from a different firm, was earning more than he, despite his years of experience and dedicated service.

He kept glancing at the clock, the seconds ticking by too slowly. He was trapped in this sterile cube. He felt a desperate need to rip the walls down.

He stood and stormed from the office. He didn't say goodbye, didn't make an excuse. He left it all behind, the office, the spreadsheets, the injustice. The fresh air hit his face and a strange mix of relief and fury filled him.
