The email notification on her phone screamed at her. "The Cozy Corner is saying goodbye." Sarah’s hands trembled as she scrolled through the message. Her vision tunneled. She felt a pressure building behind her eyes, the beginning of a headache.

She choked back a frustrated noise. The Cozy Corner was where she'd met her husband. Where they'd had their first date. Where she'd gone after every breakup, every success, every mundane Tuesday. It was a part of her history, a cornerstone of her life.

She threw her phone across the room, the device bouncing off the wall. She paced back and forth, her feet making heavy thumps on the floorboards. "No! Absolutely not!" she said to the empty apartment.
