The flashlight beam danced erratically across the attic floor, illuminating a scene of utter chaos. David gritted his teeth, his grip tightening on the handle. A broken record player, a collection of chipped teacups, a box of old tax returns… the sheer audacity of it all was breathtaking.

He had to get rid of all this useless rubbish. He found a collection of old letters tied with string. He flicked through them, each one a testament to the previous owner’s careless disregard for anything remotely useful.

He tore the letters from the string and tossed them into a cardboard box. He felt a knot forming in his stomach. He kicked the box, sending it spinning across the floor, the contents scattering. He couldn't believe the nerve of these people.
