He slammed the door to the linen closet, the flimsy wood rattling in its frame. *Damn it*, he thought, his jaw working furiously. Another crooked contractor, another shoddy job. The house, a supposed fixer-upper, was falling apart faster than he could fix it. And now, a hidden room, revealed by a loose panel behind the towels. He kicked at the wall, the impact jarring through his foot. The sheer audacity of it! He was already buried in debt and now this. He imagined the smug grin of the original owner, the one who'd left this mess behind, and his vision blurred with a fury that made his hands tremble.
