"Unmatched," read the report, the stark words a slap in the face. Elena felt the warmth drain from her face. Her hands began to tremble. Her carefully crafted world had just imploded.

She found herself in the garage, the familiar scent of oil and gasoline doing little to soothe her. She kicked the tires of her father's vintage car, the metal groaning in protest. She punched the hood, leaving a dent in the pristine paint.
