The letter, hidden in a forgotten pocket of her father's jacket, was addressed to his long-estranged brother. Reading it, she felt a strange mix of recognition and dismay. The anger, the resentment, the accusations – they felt both alien and intimately familiar. She paced the length of the living room, a restless energy coursing through her. She felt compelled to do something. She finally snatched up a heavy ceramic vase and sent it crashing against the wall. The shattering noise, finally, gave her some relief.
