Gemotions

The screen seemed to mock David. He read the email again, but the words remained the same. His heart rate soared, his chest tightening as if a vise was closing around it. He felt trapped, cornered, his future uncertain.

He wanted to lash out, to scream at the empty office, but he knew that wouldn't change anything. Instead, he rose and started pacing, his hands clasped behind his back.

He found himself walking towards the water cooler, needing to do something, anything, to distract himself. He filled a paper cup with water, but his hand trembled, and the water spilled down his shirt.
