Gemotions

The news detonated in his chest like a grenade. He could feel it – the sudden constriction, the rapid, shallow breaths. Dr. Chen, his guiding star, extinguished. He grabbed the chair in front of him, knuckles white, a silent scream building in his throat.

He wanted to tear the room apart, to rend and shred the sterile environment that had become his temporary home. He imagined finding Dr. Chen, and… What? What would he even say? He bit down on his lip, tasting blood.

He stood, his legs shaky, and started to pace. Back and forth, back and forth, the cold linoleum biting into his bare feet. Each step amplified the fury churning inside him.
