Gemotions

The letter felt like a slap in the face. After all the years of silence, after the painstaking effort to rebuild his life, his ex-friend had the nerve to send a flimsy apology. The words swam before his eyes, a mocking jumble. He crumpled the letter, the paper crinkling like a scream trapped in his hand. The weight in his chest was so intense, it was hard to breathe.

He slammed his fist against the wall. The impact sent a jolt of pain through his arm. He needed to get away, to find a place where he could finally unravel. He ripped his car keys from the hook and stormed outside. He drove, not knowing where he was going, the radio blaring, trying to drown out the voice of resentment that raged inside his head.
