Gemotions

The photograph, crisp and bright, showed a smiling family standing in front of the house. That was his place. And now, some *other* family would be making memories there. It was so wrong. John stood motionless, rooted to the spot.

A bitter taste flooded his mouth. He felt a throbbing ache behind his eyes. He focused on his breathing, trying to calm the storm that was rising within him. He wanted to go there, to see it, to… confront it?

He slammed his fist on the kitchen counter, the force shaking the dishes. He had to do something, anything, to alleviate the pressure building inside his chest. He would not allow it to sit idly by.
