The grade hung over Ethan like a dark cloud. A C. His hands trembled as he reread the comments: “Lacking depth,” “Superficial analysis.” He scoffed, the sound sharp and brittle. Superficial? He had stayed up all night, he had rewritten the paper three times, he had researched every single detail!

He slammed the laptop shut, the metallic sound echoing in the room. He felt a sudden, overwhelming urge to break something, to scream, to lash out. He pushed his chair back, nearly knocking it over. He couldn't stay here, trapped in the confines of his own frustration. He needed to move, to do something, anything, to release the tension that coiled within him.
